The couple got married in a traditional ceremony on the Isle of Bute – and gave an exclusive interview about their big day to accompany the stunning pictures.
Ever since the Olympics — when that tear rolled down his cheek — life has barely slowed for Louis Smith, 23, the poster boy of British gymnastics. ’ Fortunately, as Louis recalibrates his brain from elite sportsman to spandex celebrity, he has his childhood best friend to draw on for advice.
I know it sounds cheesy, but it was perfect." All of his JLS bandmates – Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold and Oritse Williams – as well as Rochelle Humes and Kimberly Wyatt were there to witness the big day.
"Like I say, we're traditional and to us that’s all part of this exciting new chapter in our lives," JB explained. When you get married, it's not just you any more, it's the two of you and I’m looking forward to reflecting that in our home and making it our house.
The pair spent most of their childhood playing Lego and Play Station together, went to the same school, and claim that they never got into trouble. Aston emphatically rules out getting Louis to guest on any future JLS recordings, but he does say they might get him in for a dance routine. ‘I was running round the stairs, going under the seats, nicking people’s handbags, just causing trouble. I wonder if there’s more lurking behind this than his old friend realises, but Aston is having none of it.
As for Aston, he is a noted acrobat, enlivening JLS concerts with trademark backflips — they occasionally have contests at the Merrygolds’ Christmas parties. And the coach saw my mother getting stressed and asked: “Do you want to put him into the class? Within two years, she’d taught me all she could and I took it on from there.’ Louis may be undecided about whether to commit himself to Rio, but at least he has plenty to absorb his energy. ‘What’s the problem with being that type of guy when you are single?
